I just had to show a quite large bat off the premises.

I will confess to being slightly freaked out, even though I like bats in principle, because s/he was about twice the size of any other bat I've ever seen that close.

I trapped it in the dining room (the only room on the ground floor that closes off entirely) and then with the Mr.'s coaching (I had to roust him out of bed and away from his crossword puzzle), opened a window in there and exited the room myself. A minute later, it flew outinto the night.

I have no idea how it got inside in the first place!

Yeek!

Hey, I'm pretty good at dealing with wildlife, but even I'd be a bit freaked over a larger bat in my house. And on principle, wildlife is always nicer -- OUTSIDE.

Gah! I would probably wet myself over that. Spiders, snakes, frogs and lizards I can deal with. Even rodents - but a bat? Oh, hell no!

I bow to your bravery.

*envies*

My friend has 500+ bats living in her roof space and they frequently get into the house. They're only tiny but they're so cute!

It's a Big Brown Bat - gotta love these "truth in advertising" names!

Hee! Yes.

I think most of the ones around here are pipistrelles ...

It could have been worse: the bat could have been in your bra.

You wouldn't believe, my school is old and I mean old, so as traditional old buildings go, we now have a company of bats in betweent he ceiling of the science department (which is the floor of the Home Economics department) as an offical acessory. And they do like to visit us in the day time hours since there are holes left right and centre in the science department ceiling.

Though myself have never had a vist from this lovely animals, I have had a nice clip around the back of the head on the very very late night/early morning return from Alton Towers by one of their wings as it flew around the carpark and into the building.
