Not sure I've ever heard the original before. The version I'm familiar with is a cover by Type O Negative, who are, according to Wikipedia, "a gothic metal band". So it's a bit more growly? But I still find it very soothing. Like, it makes me think of a big scary monster but they're being really sweet and domestic, and that's a nice image.
