This is surprisingly addicting, even though I can't understand much more than the character's names and a very few words (like onna - "woman"):
Hakkai (well, Gonou in these scenes) is completely adorable, and the scene where he's telling his story to Gojyo is quite close to the manga, I think - complete with Gojyo holding up his pinkie yakuza-style to mean a woman when he asks about the person Gonou has lost.

Date: 2009-05-30 04:15 am (UTC)It's Friday! But it's more a sort of intertia setting in ... . I'm also watching the http://community.livejournal.com/fight_derailing/ thing about Wiscon ... .
I am starting to get my usual up-too-late spikes-through-the-temples headache.

Date: 2009-05-31 12:41 am (UTC)I'm amazed at how quickly you get used to them being 'real,' too. And...yeah. Damn.

:-)
The problem with the files of the musical is that the person who put them up arbitrarily broke them into 10-minute segments ... yes, I'm so picky about my free entertainment! But they really are fun to watch.

Date: 2009-05-30 04:16 am (UTC)Well, but there might have been more natural breaks than the literal 10-minute marks. (It would have made more files, of course.)

Date: 2009-06-05 02:20 am (UTC)Speaking of Takarazuka ... I'm pretty sure I showed this to smilla one time when she was visiting, but I think you would enjoy it very much. It's sanada's screen caps of and pricelessly snarky commentary on a big Takarazuka production.
Put some of those actresses in a lineup with our Hakkai there, and you'd be pretty hard-pressed to guess who was which ... nor would you care, I imagine!

I like the Gojyo guy, although I haven't seen him do a real Gojyo Grin yet. He seems to be better at the serious expressions.

Date: 2009-06-12 08:00 pm (UTC)But you're right, a Gojyo grin or really any kind of lighter moment would have been nice. I mean I loved all the angst and drama, but what's Saiyuki without the fun? Maybe that just got lost in the non-existant translation. But overall, I really liked it.

You might want to join/watch the saiyuki_news community - it's pretty good at picking up this sort of stuff from all the Saiyuki LJ comms and posting it every day - everything from icons dumps and doujinshi for sale through new fanfic and new chapters in scans/translations. That's where I first saw these videos.
