Quotes Meme
May. 21st, 2008 06:27 pmIt's been a mildly woeful Wednesday, so let's have a meme. This one is ganked from kispexi2's ... you go to this here random quotes page, check out the quotes that come up, and keep refreshing until you've collected five quotes that really resonate with you, then post 'em to your journal.
Books to the ceiling,
Books to the sky,
My pile of books is a mile high.
How I love them! How I need them!
I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.
- Arnold Lobel
Love much. Earth has enough of bitter in it.
- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
-George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)
Holding onto anger is like grasping onto a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else. You are the one who gets burned.
- Gotama Buddha
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
- Anaïs Nin (1903 - 1977)
Hmmm ... what a strange batch that is!

I picked the Nin quote because I feel that I've been taking chances with my heart to some extent on LJ, because I couldn't go on living as I was (drying up from lack of like minds around me), and it's been worth it.

Clearly Arnold has visited my house. ;)(Although I read all my books, they just are everywhere.)
I like the Anais Nin one also.

Date: 2008-05-27 02:05 am (UTC)Same here - I'm cautious enough about what I buy that I almost never spend money on something and then not read it.
But the addition of a manga-reading habit to the SF&F and kidlit habit has definietly challenged our ability to house books properly!
The Nin one has to do with the existence of my LJ - which felt very much like leaving my heart out for comment when I started it - and the fact that I'm actually letting people see my inner thoughts through fic.
