Fun with telophase and mscongeniality !

chomijiThe afternoon and evening were big improvements over a drippy, tedious start to Monday. I had a damp, chilly morning commute, and the 3 levels of management above me kept crossing their wires over what my priorities should be, with the result that I left the office for an afternoon at the the Computers in Libraries Conference more than half an hour after I should have - and missed the first two-thirds of my session on Federated Searches.
But!!! Then at the coffee break, I found telophase playing with her laptop at one of the tables outside the conference rooms (I recognized the hair from 30 feet away), and life looked much brighter. We hung out and attended a session and the trade show together, and then took the shuttle bus back to her hotel, and hung out some more. I managed to actually talk (as opposed to looking off in the distance, tongue-tied and going "Ummm ....") for a good deal of this.
Then mscongeniality came and got us with her car, and we went to Old Town Alexandria, so telophase could see the waterfront and the outside of the Torpedo Factory, which, sadly, was closed (yes, it was an actual torpedo factory during WWII - now it has dozens of artists' studios and exhibits in it). Then we had a nice dinner at the Union Street Pub, and then they dropped me off at the Metro, and my friend Kat picked me up at the other end, with the Young Lady in the car (she had been visiting and doing homework with Kat's daughters), and dropped us off home.
It certainly beat the pants off of any Monday I've had recently!

Well, if you run outta places to stay ... my hair's standing on end at the idea of your seeing our house in its current condition, but we do have an actual spare room with its own bath ... and we're within walking distance of Metro.
