Icons! (Saiyuki. Gravitation, misc.)

I've had a couple of requests for icons lately, so I decided the easiest was just to do another icon post. (And that's why some of these may look familiar from my posts about the place ... .) Samples:

All manga-related artwork is from the respective mangaka; Code Monkey from singer Jonathan Coulton's site (and of course, in honor of his song of that name); STFU logo from ThinkGeek.

Notes: The Gravitation icons were a project for a friend - she picked one (not here) to be hers specially. Most of the Saiyuki ones were made for my own use originally, but the Yaone icon and several of the Gaiden ones are new for this post. The two misc. were made in response to ideas from The Young Lady. Don't say I never do anything for you!   XD

Hee, the text on both of those was from www.nancybuttons.com. I often go there for a quick laugh, and when I saw the "Humanity" one, I thought "Hmm, that sounds like Sanzo" and started making icons from her stuff.

I can't stand Nii, but he gets discussed enough that I decided I needed an icon for him. And I loveThe 13 Clocks - the poetry of its prose is amazing. "It moves about the room like monkeys and like shadows ... ."

I've noticed the same thing! I tried to do one of her with her first-aid box, but it's going to require more photomanipulation than I had time at that point - I'll have to do something with the box and her hands and arms so she's holding it nearer her face. I'm glad you like this one, in the meantime.

Gravitation is such bizarre brain candy ... the friend for whom I made the icons sees a resemblance between Eiri and Sanzo (especially when they both have their specs on). I can't say she's wrong, but that's a pretty cracky connection!

Have you ever made any Hakuryuu icons?

Just find me some Hakuryuu art you like, and I'll make you an icon or two - I like making them. I could probably pull him out of one of the group shots on Aerthereality Gallery or MiniTokyo ... hmmm. I'll see what I can do, but sing out if you spot a scan that has a particularly good shot of him.

Yes, that's about where I am with my own icons! Part of the reason I make them for other people is I quickly realized I was using up all my slots.

These are all beautiful! And I adored the tongue-in-cheek humor that came through with some of the sayings... they just fit the characters too well. I've snagged all the gravi ones and most of the Saiyuki ones. I especially loved the Goku kitten, Hakkai-intel and The Sanzou Idiot ones... oh and the Kenren party... LoL. Very original! Thank-you for sharing your work and I will be sure to credit when used!

Oh, so glad glad you liked them! Those you specified feature the wit and wisdom of 20+ years of science fiction and fantasy fans, captured by the nancybuttons lady (she does custom buttons as well, and saves the best slogans to become part of her catalog). Once I'd found one for Sanzo, I had to go find sayings for the others too, of course.

It's a strange thing about Sanzo ... he's not my favorite character, or even the #2 (those are Gojyo and Hakkai), but sometimes it's all too easy to identify with his viewpoint, especially when other people are being a pain!
