I am Once Again a Snivelling Wretch

I came back from Katsucon about 3:00pm on Sunday, and by midnight (despite a nap) felt wretched and was going through Kleenex like I had most of my savings sunk into their stock. There followed low-grade fever (100-101°F) and really nasty aching muscles that made it torture to go up and down the stairs - it felt like I was carrying a 40-lb. pack. Now I'm just tired and still sniffling a bit. But the Young Lady has it now, too. Interestingly, she has a higher fever (which is typical of children - but she's not much of a child at this point ...) and hardly any aches.
Feh.

Date: 2008-02-24 03:49 am (UTC)Well, I do have my comforter. And just as well - all I did for the first two days was sleep and stagger down for food. I didn't even start with my new manga until Wednesday. But I seem to be better now!

Date: 2008-02-24 04:01 am (UTC)Yikes it was ... the really sad thing was the Young Lady, who almost never gets sick. She's got a little cough left, and is beefing about it ... jeez, her first bad cold since about age 10. (She remembers that one vividly, too - she almost missed trick-or-treating from it.)

Date: 2008-02-24 04:04 am (UTC)Actually I caught it at the con, we think. Sanada had it, too!
I was probably courting disaster by going to the con while I was still run down, but I'd been planning it since last year - we signed up for it when we went to Balticon (science fiction con) last summer! One of the problems with the con was, so many people were changing in and out of costumes that the elevators were always jammed and stopped at just about every floor ... plenty of time to swap air and viruses with other people ... .

Date: 2008-02-24 04:08 am (UTC)Awww, thanks. I seem to be mostly over it. Oddly enough, my usually strappingly healthy teenaged daughter has got more of a cough than I do. This is more than a little odd, because I'm famous for having lingering irritant bronchitis after colds or the flu ... I'll have uncontrollable coughing fits for 10 days at a time. I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, I've dodged it this time.
