So I Had This Dream ...

... sometime in the early hours of Saturday.
Gojyo worked at my office.
Sadly, this was not as exciting as it should have been. As the Young Lady instantly said "That must have been distracting!" ... but it wasn't.
He was stuck in some odd little office way away from everyone else - you had to go down some steps and then up some steps to get there. And we were having a meeting to see how we could help him get his work done better. And it became clear that no one was getting him anything he needed - information and such - to get his job done.
I imagine some of you on the f-list have already cracked what I think was going on with my dream. Yes, my inner Gojyo - the one with the abusive mother who needs lots of social contact and reassurance and love - is not getting much out of my current job.
But we all knew that already, right?
FWIW, Holloway's dream book confirms that celebrities or fictional characters can represent aspects of yourself.
Ah well. Maybe next time he'll bring Hakkai along and provide something a little more entertaining for me to talk about.

Date: 2008-02-13 11:22 pm (UTC)But he wasn't in a business suit! He was in his Reload outfit - with the tight jeans and the leather jacket. We do business casual, so it's almost plausible ... .
He'd start out by making me be embarrassed by being gallantly flirtatious and calling me "auntie" (like he does with the older ladies in the manga) and end up telling me all his troubles. That's what they always do!

Date: 2008-02-13 08:01 pm (UTC)2) Ones of these days, I shall do a "what on Earth is he thinking with some of these clothes?" post for Gojyo.
Completely unrelated(but because I saw one of those cheaper 3-in-1 rereleases) but have you checked out Rurouni Kenshin? Like SDK, it takes a few volumes to get going(also the mangaka's first big work) but is pretty good.

Date: 2008-02-13 11:20 pm (UTC)LOL! Especially because I always say that my inner Sanzo is bitchy so that I don't have to be!
Well ... the Young Lady was looking at RK for a while, and I got her a couple of volumes in Spanish. It didn't seem quite my thing. And then there's the fact that nasty people kept saying SDK was a rip-off of it. (My likes and dislikes aren't always logical.)
Everytime Gojyo is badly dressed, it's because Hakkai didn't dress him that day. That's why his clothes are so much better in Reload - Hakkai finally decided he had to take a hand. (Did you read my Gojyo-chan story? The one that has all the comments - with many of the recent ones by you - trailing its announcement?)

Date: 2008-02-13 11:40 pm (UTC)You know...I've never understood that. I started reading both books about the same time, after BotI sent me looking for more samurai manga, and both series were around Vol 5 at the time. There are a few surface similarities, but they're more common things with shonen/samurai manga than actual similarities. I'd say the closest REAL similarity is that Kaoru is rather like Yuya, if she'd been raised a proper samurau daughter, instead of on the road, and they both have a prickly kid who latches on to the female lead as an older sister(but with completely different dynamics.) But if there were any significant similarities, you'd THINK I would have noticed, bingeing on the early volumes of both simultaneously, then reading them in conjunction for the first time until RK ended.
If you do give it a try, give it until Saito makes his presence be felt in a big way.

That's actually always been my theory on Gojyo's clothes. When I was making Saiyuki icons, I kept wondering why on Earth Hakkai let him out of the house that day. Yes, I've read that story and think I commented to you on it. Most Saiyuki fic doesn't work for me for whatever reason(not even the crackfic...generally crackfic works for me unles it's character bashing crackfic) but I did like that.
