This and That

It made us late getting home and so we only just finished supper (I had defrosted pork in the fridge that needed to be stir-fried).
It's very cold and wet out.
Someone who shall remain nameless has me hooked on Love Nikki Dress Up Queen (phone game), which has got to be the most hilarious mismatch between game and player ever. Every time I think I understand it, I end up losing a style match and being awarded an F. Also, how the hell do you make money in this game?

Date: 2017-11-08 02:52 am (UTC)During any given style match, when you're in the dress-up room (I don't know what it's called), go to "Momo's reminder" (orange-pink circle in the bottom left corner). It will tell you about any recommended clothes you can purchase ("Tips" tab). The "S Tips" tab will also give you more recommendations, which will tend to be stuff you already own. I just deck Nikki out in all the recommended stuff no matter how clashy it looks. Once I get to the point of an outfit that is consistently winning at S rating, I just grind using "Memory"/"Best Score." Winning at an S rating will get you about 800 gold (at least on Maiden difficulty, I have no idea about the harder setting). Winning at an A rating will get you about 400 gold. I grind a lot. :p It gets dull, but I play this game when I need to relax.

Date: 2017-11-10 03:10 am (UTC)The trouble is, you can't grind ad infinitum the way you can in either the Coli or the Fairgrounds in Flight Rising (or, for that matter, the regular game play in Zen Koi). After you've done a certain amount of Stylist Arena (or whatever it's called), they start charging you gems to complete, and then they just cut you off. And with the regular Quest challenges, I hit dead ends where I need to get another item or three, and I have no more virtual money and no more free picks at House of Mystery left for the day.
Yeah, I figured out about Momo's tips fairly early on. For some reason I was oblivious to the S tips until you pointed them out! Some of the challenges I'm good at -- I know exactly what to do if the challenge is Sassy (equals Sexy plus Lively) anything or Office Lady. In fact, for the Sassy Club Wear, I got more than 100,000 points one time. (Yup, I should have used Memory from then on. But I was enjoying tweaking the outfit a bit each time. Is the Medusa-esque cloud of curly hair better than the blonde bombshell 'do with the flower, or not?)
But some of the more obscure things screw me up. I'm on Chapter 4 (or part 4, or whatever), and the challenge I just had was something to wear while standing (stupidly) in a rose garden in the middle of a sunny day. Momo's recommended outfit was a very ugly brown jumper/pinafore over a very plain white long-sleeved shirt, and I thought that made no effing sense at all, so I ignored it and went with a pretty, long and long-sleeved white dress I had, and got one of my lowest scores ever. So I went again, and took another look at the recommended "dress." It says "sun protection" on it in smallish yellow letters above the description. Huh. The S recommendations were even more hilarious. One of them was the fishnet stockings that had been so useful in the Sassy Club Wear challenge. Because, you know, fishnets are such good sun protection.
