chomijiBrunch and a matinee at the Kennedy Center:
The show, "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical," was slight and slick, but enjoyable. The framing of the famous songs with the show's scenes was fun, and toward the end, when King is starting out on her solo career, actually touching. "It's Too Late, " which shows up just after she's decided she has to leave her husband and frequent collaborator (in the 1960s) Gerry Goffin, made me cry.
