Oh, Phixr, You're My Hero!
Jan. 8th, 2008 05:41 pmSo my older computer at work is finally really, most sincerely dead - it gave up the ghost with a hard drive failure last week. The new computer has Photoshop but ... no one has yet given me the group license serial number that I need to get it working. And I had to come up with a picture of a Valentine's Day bouquet for a column to be published tomorrow. I found art on the Interwebs, but it wasn't the right size.
Phixr to the rescue. No, it doesn't have layers or anything like that, but if you want to just re-size something, add a little text, crop it, do some simple special effects, Phixr does for you at no cost at all. (You could probably do simple icons, for example.) It's saved my behind several times - a really good little online service.

Date: 2008-01-09 03:44 am (UTC)Thanks, but actually, I have Photoshop on my Mac here at home, and I should have it at work. But I use Phixr when I can't get to either of those - on my work laptop, for example, and when I'm using someone else's computer and they don't have a graphics program. Because it's online, it's essentially portable.
What kinds of things is Gimp better at doing?
