Having a Happy New Year?

So what is everybody doing for New Year's Eve?

Our old friend Michael, who is quite the gourmet cook, is having his usual New Year's Eve party, so we're going to that. It's usually the only chance I get all year to really dress up. I'll be wearing the pearl-and-pink-quartz jewelry that the Mr. bought me last month, and a silver silk charmeuse blouse I bought to go with it, and either black silk or black velvet slacks (depends on how warm it feels when I get home to change), and actual "lady shoes" with heels (haven't decided yet whether I feel up to the strappy glittery sandals, or whether I'll just go with the ones I think of as my dancing shoes, less bare and with lower heels and criss-cross straps). Oh, and makeup and perfume ... all the stuff I don't usually bother doing.

Sadly, the only "fun" that goes on around here New Years Eve involves hanging around with drunk people, or sharing the road with them. Neither really thrills me. I have my books, my TV, and my internet.

No doubt some of the party guests at my friends' tonight will also become sozzled (a few always do), but enough of the people that I enjoy seeing, and rarely see anymore otherwise, will stay sober enough for good conversation.

Yay, dressing up is fun! Take a photo!

Another year of nothing, woohoo! For some reason I dress up even though I'm just going to hang out in the basement. But I went a little crazy with a Borders gift card today and bought enough manga to amuse myself for the rest of the night.

Yeah, I should bring the camera ... some years I do, anyway, so no one should be too freaked out. And you should see Karl in his tux, too ...   :-D

Michael has had one for years, so Karl bought one that time we went on an Xmas/New Year's cruise - I swear it was the whole competitive thing that got him! (Watch him decide not to wear it now ... I'm outta here, see you next year!)

I don't think I've ever had plans for New Year's, and this year is no different.

If it weren't for Michael, we'd probably potluck and hang out with my friend K and her family, reading comics etc. until midnight ... that's where the Young Lady will be tonight.
