Testing the Live Frog Theory

There's an old saying that if you eat a live frog first thing in the morning, nothing worse will happen to you for the rest of the day. Now, rest assured that no amphibians were harmed in the making of this entry, but we did begin our day with ... no water. At all. There was a water main break somewhere in Tacky Park, and they told the Mr. that it would be fixed in 5 hours. That's actually pretty good, now that I look at it, but I wasn't feeling that generous at 5:45 am.
So it was break out a big jug of emergency water, and take a sponge bath with water heated on the stove - even a sponge shampoo, sort of. Yuck - not what I need on a January morning. It's lucky that (a) I had a haircut last Saturday, so there's not a strand longer than 1.5 inches on my head, and (b) I filled the buns' water bottle last night.
And I also had to drag the laptop into the office for a big update that wouldn't download remotely. I think the agency got a deal with the contractor who supplied bomb-proof laptops for the military in Iraq - these things are big, heavy hunks o' metal. I bought a wheeled briefcase for mine, but it's still an awkward thing to handle on the Metro.
Who knows what else the day will bring ....
Ah Tacky Park

Having no water sucks. I'm just waiting for my water heater to blow...
