According to them I read 683 words per minute. But I really can't keep that up for very long.

I read about. um. 2000 words a minute? I've always been fast, though.

I read about 1000 wpm, which is down from my university days when I used speed-reading to skim through mountains of abstracts. It isn't reading for pleasure, though.

If I slow it right down and concentrate intensely on what I'm reading, I can experience photographic memory. Stress is a factor, though.
