Computer Woes!

My older system at the office? The one that I had set up just the way I like it? The one to which the speakers are attached? The one with the repository of Saiyuki art for making icons, not all of which is yet copied over to the external hard drive? The one from which I was supposed to switch eventually?

It seems to have suffered a hard drive crash .... .

So now all I have is the shiny new computer on the credenza, with the keyboard that feels like it came out of a bubblegum machine, and only the most necessary software.

I wants my old computer back, I does!

Yeah, I loved that PC ... it worked better than everyone else's ... it was one of the first of that configuration in the agency.

Oooh, these two? Yuya (blond bounty-hunter) and Mahiro (brunette ninja) from Samurai Deeper Kyo ... icon is by meganbmoore.

Oh, they sound and look really cool.

It's a good series, although it starts off really slow. And it has great villains, with angsty backgrounds and reasons for what they're doing.

But it is meant to be a shounen series, so you'd probably be annoyed with a lot of it. And Mahiro disappears for a lot of the series, and Yuya can be terribly girly. But a lot of people who usually prefer tough women-warrior types find themselves liking her ... she "grows" on people.

I probably got most of it off Aethereality ... hmmm. I guess I'll just pipe up about specific wants, like I did about Koumyou. Thanks!

I'll ask our own group's IT specialist on Monday. The regular Help desk guys won't bother with anything that exotic!

I don't know what type keyboard it is, but it felt much heftier and clickier than the current one - odd, because both are Dell systems.

Oh, now I see what you mean. Yes, the old PC has the springs in the keyboard. I've taken the keys off to clean underneath a number of times.

I can't imagine this Mac keyboard has springs, though, and still it's pretty clicky and bouncy and stuff. But then, Apple is obsessed with secondary industrial design factors - I read a marvelous article once about how they planned the products - so they may have made the touch experience a priority for the keyboard.

One of the two perfumes has something that makes me feel sniffly. I think I may have to pick through the ingredient list and try to figure out what it is.

The Mr. says that next year we ought to get our act together and host Thanksgiving so we can host people who don't have family nearby with whom to celebrate.

Well, the ironic thing was, I was backing a lot of it up onto an external drive, ready to move it to the newer system ... but then some other stuff happened, as you know, this past month or two ... .
