Help! Who Here Knows Firefox Really Well??

I just upgraded to Firefox 10, and it seems to be allergic to URLs and stuff!
The location bar doesn't have the http:// prefix, so if I copy that to make links, they're borked. Plus, when I hover over a link on a page, I can't see the URL anywhere! (I'm used to having it show up at the bottom of the page.)
I'm looking for fixes, but I'm not finding them!
HELP! I want to know where links are before I go to them! I want to be able to copy and paste URLs without having to type in the protocol prefix manually!
ETA: OK, I found the URL hover ... it's floating off at right bottom. Still can't find the solution to the http:// in the location field.

And the second, well, I've been using Status-4-Evar (add-on/extension) to give me the old status bar at the bottom of the window. It might still help? :)

Date: 2012-02-02 06:12 pm (UTC)Thanks muchly! I found an answer at CNET - I just wrote it up in my LJ in case anyone else needs it. It turned out to be easy to do, but there are some Seekrit Things one needs to know to fix it.

What else is better in Opera? I've know of its existence for years, but know very few who use it. (My usual alterna-browser - mainly for my fic accounts, to make it easier to keep them apart, and for Facebook, so I can delete all the cookies regularly - is Safari.)
