Well, This Is Interesting ...

One of my Katsucon photos - the one of the girl in the dress made of Pokemon cards - was posted on a site called Geekologie. In fact, it is still on the front there. That explains why my views count has just exploded, especially on that picture ... .

I am not at all surprised at the comments. (I only read the first fifteen or so, but I assume they're representative.)

Indeed representative. A couple of them were more generally bemoaning their girlfriend-less state, and I wanted to say "Dude! Man up and act civilized - there are plenty of fannish girls who'd be interested in you if you put in a little effort at controlling your worst tendencies!"

How do they even know she used the ~authentic~ cards and not photocopies?

The guy who made the posting was actually encouraging them to moan over the wanton destruction of the cards, and linked to the high-res version so that they could do a better job of it!

(I need a geek guy icon. Maybe Kazuo from Bus Gamer? And the original post is now being reblogged to yay many other geek boy sites ... .)

I have to say, though, that I appreciate that the only guys who seem to have actually showed up on Flickr to comment in response to that (and maybe to the earlier posting I discovered on another geek-guy site, and the Twitter one of them sent ... ) were pretty polite and just generally admiring.

(And the hit count is now up to more than 2,400 ... !)
