Tell Me What to Review Next!
Jan. 4th, 2010 10:57 pmI am so behind in reviewing things, because November and December were big months for other kinds of writing. I read a number of things though - enough that my INFP brain can't figure out where to start.

Date: 2010-01-05 12:24 pm (UTC)Looks like I'm going to be starting with SDK ... but Mac, this is volume 35/36 of a 38-volume series! If you want something more introductory that will tell you a little about the series, I did an in-depth bit about the prequel (gaiden) for one of the main characters (Yukimura, the guy in my default and "Happiness"" icons) back here.

Date: 2010-01-06 02:39 am (UTC)You know, I swear I wrote you a response this morning ... LJ seems to have eaten it.
Anyway, I was explaining that the SDK volume is the penultimate of the series (Del Rey took over the publishing, thank God, after Tokyopop dropped the ball, and I think it's big of them, given how late it is - they will bring out 37 and 38 as a double too), and maybe not the best time to join up discussing it. It's not unlike reading the first half of vol. 9 of Reload, but multiplied many times: the large cast of good guys is in the middle of a ferocious set of battles with a somewhat smaller cast of supercharged bad guys.
Anyway, it would be fun to talk with you about the series, but I have to warn you that I'm going to want to squee over some very spoilery stuff. (In fact, I've read through the end of the series in scanlations, but the plot is complicated enough that I'd actually forgotten some key bits.)
I love Yoshinaga! Her newer stuff, like Ooku. and Antique Bakery, is gorgeous, but I have a fondness for some of her older yaoi stuff. I like the one about the law students especially.
