I'll be lighting candles on my own hanukiyyah in December ... but given that Yule was a pagan holiday, I feel that the name of the challenge has come to imply more of a solstice-y "strike a light against the darkness" theme. And at their roots, Hanukah and Christmas (and New Years, both solar and lunar) are solar/fire festivals ... .
