... TOKYOPOP lost the license to Samurai Deeper Kyo! But that explains why volume 35 has been impossible to find, no matter what Amazon says. I can't believe it though -- there are only 4 volumes left! (Never mind the fact that SDK is supposedly one of their better sellers. This can't bode well for TP if they lost the SDK license and the final English volume of Furuba is released soon.) On the other hand, it also appears that Del Rey has the license to the final 4 volumes and if the listing for volume 35 is accurate, they'll be released in double-sized volumes. Let's hope it's true. That'll be imminently sad if SDK ends its English run with only 4 volumes to go!
You can take a look at the Delray catalog listing here.

*goes into a state of shock...*
SDK
Date: 2009-06-18 09:01 pm (UTC)I imagine you can buy it in UK ... Delray publishes xxxHolic and other well-known manga.

Date: 2009-06-18 09:02 pm (UTC)You're so right about the footnotes ... now I'm wondering why it couldn't have been Delray to begin with - maybe the translations would have been less stupid!

Date: 2009-06-19 02:52 am (UTC)Wow, you are a fount of knowledge! Yeah, there's not much point in worrying over it - water under the bridge. It'll be interesting to see what Del Rey [wow, hit me with a clue bat about the spelling ... ] does with it. I just really resent the delay ... the last few volumes are such a rollercoaster!

Date: 2009-06-19 02:53 am (UTC)Well, at least another company has picked it up! I did a pre-order at the Del Rey site ... just wanna show them that there are some truly committed fans out here.

Date: 2009-06-19 02:58 am (UTC)Well, I know they had some big problems during the past 12 months and dropped a bunch of the newer series that hadn't yet proved themselves terribly popular. But this stuff is beginning to worry the hell out of me. SDK was moderately popular - it usually ended up in the middle of the top 100 series in any month that a new volume was released, according to some figures I found online.
I guess we can forget their ever picking up Saiyuki Gaiden, for example. And I'm worried about the two new Saiyuki series (the continuation of the Sanzo ikkou's journey, and the Koumyou story). There was no guarantee that Tokyopop would pick them up anyway, but ... .
So what's Silver Diamond like?

Date: 2009-06-19 11:24 pm (UTC)Silver Diamond is ... umm, four misfits/outcasts thrown together (one is a demon) fighting terrible evil against overwhelming odds. Lots of pretty boys touching each other ... XD

Date: 2009-06-18 06:13 am (UTC)Maybe Tokyopop and the publisher, Carlsen, over here should start a club for publishers who doesn't finish series, since Carlsen decided to quit Gravitation at the last volume.
Tho, it's still sad that it seems like people has to pick already finished series to be sure to be able to read the end...

Date: 2009-06-19 03:02 am (UTC)Yikes, they quit Gravi one volume from the end? What rotten timing!
At least Del Rey should do a decent job - they publish xxxHolic, Mushishi, Eternal Sabbath, and a bunch of other well-made series.
