Interview Meme!

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on ... .
lady_ganesh asked ...
- What do you like most about writing?
Partially it's exercise for my imagination, but another huge part for me is the chance to connect with people. When someone says they like the story, it's a little connection, and it's golden.
- Why do you read what you read -- what do you find satisfying, as a reader?
I like to see characters grow, emotionally and mentally, and discover something that maybe they didn't know about themselves. I like stories with friendship or teamwork (or both). I like wry, droll humor, especially when it dispels tension. And I like being placed into a completely different setting from my own and having it described so vividly that I even "know" things that the author didn't mention, because he or she invented or evoked a setting that hung together so well (for example, in C.J. Cherryh's SF or P.C. Hodgell's fantasy, I can make pretty good guesses as to who handles the garbage, even when it's not mentioned).
- Finish this sentence: I could probably live for a week on _______.
Suuuuushi! Lovely sushi, so light and yet so satisfying. Clean, vivid, distinct flavors.
- Pie or cake?
Cake!!! I like some kinds of pie (pumpkin, blackberry), but I rarely eat the entire crust, and sometimes I only eat the filling. But cake is great - whether a plain slice of traditional Jewish honeycake, a piece of good-quality standard birthday cake with sugary frosting, or a sinful bitter chocolate torte.
- What was the last thing that made you really laugh?
Just this afternoon, at Katsucon, someone had organized a demented game of Twister in which instead of using the spinner, the fiend-in-charge roared out at random passersby: "You! Name a body part! And a color!" Knees, noses, cheeks (not on the face!) ... . It was a total riot. My enjoyment was definitely enhanced by the young woman nearby who kept murmuring "This is just so wrong!"
