I have read the whole series previously. Too late: I already had the need-brain-bleach experience.
It's got a bizarre split personality going on. The first half is from Daikichi's viewpoint, and it's warm and funny and sweet and *different*. Then it goes mostly to Rin's viewpoint, and all the sudden, it's a more conventional shoujo series.
And then it goes id-tastic with the Elektra complex.
