Hitting 50 is really something of a psychological benchmark (just as 30 was). I think it's one of those times where you can no longer live in denial about the advances of time. (See, I am all philosophical now too ;) )

The other thing I've noticed with age is that I'm becoming somewhat less self conscious of doing things like making a fuss when something is wrong.
I usually end up sharing my cake with our friend Andrew, whose birthday is a few days before mine. Maybe when I hit 60, I'll have my own cake!
