The Vacation Reading Post
Aug. 8th, 2007 10:29 amSo it's decided: when we head north on Friday, I will take with me the following new books (new to me, anyway) to read:
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Persuasion by Jane Austen
- The Color of Water by James McBride
- InterWorld by Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves
- Ilario: The Lion's Eye by Mary Gentle
Thanks to the flist for helping me decide on which of the Austens to bring!
I've got so much to do before we leave ...

Date: 2007-08-09 03:56 pm (UTC)Awww!
I just have a 10-12 hour drive, and the Mr. will insist on doing all the actual driving (I read the maps).
Don't worry, the biggest thing to fear these days is flight delays.
(I get a little worried myself on takeoffs and landings ... I like to sit where I can watch the flaps on the wings do their thing - somehow, seeing them function makes me feel better.)

Date: 2007-08-22 04:18 pm (UTC)XD I don't read in the car ... I either daydream (and usually fall asleep after a while) or help the Mr. by reading maps. The books are for down time on vacation. We're all a bunch of geeks, so we spend a lot of time sitting around the beach house livingroom reading. Sometimes four or five of us will be at it at once. Sometimes I mix it up radically by reading out on the deck ... !
