Well, they did have to do a crown on the tooth with the cracked filling. So I have the temporary one in now, and the roots are incredibly temperature sensitive, and my jaw hurts.   > Waaaah! <

That ends the self-pity part of our program. We now return you to your regularly scheduled online experience.

Thanks muchly for the huggles ... the permanent one will go on in about 3 weeks. The dentist's father makes them, in New York. So it takes a while to get the finished crowns back here to be inserted. But he does a very nice job of color-matching them to my real teeth. (I've started thinking of the crownsd as my "roboteeth.")

I feel for you! I had something in my mouth once that looked like a chicken fence, it was like inhumaine torture! Have you ever had braces? OMG I HATE THOSE THINGS TOO! My nickname was Robomouth! 1. loved the movie robocop and 2. have been called 'mouth' by my family for years and then my best friends heroine addicted brother started calling me 'mouth' since I had (past tense since he is in jail) the ability to wake him out of his drug induced stupors(I saved his life by doing so once...not the happiest of days in that house)..so then everybody else I know started calling me 'mouth'. Why mouth? you ask? Since it is by far my most prominent of features. Its armed and dangerous! Loud, vile and extremly whitty.
I talk alot too...if you couldnt tell. :)

Oh yes indeed, I had braces! And let me say that they were even worse back then ... the braces in those days were attached to metal bands that went all around the tooth instead of the glued-on brackets kids have now. So before they put them on, you got to sit for about an hour with big chunky rubber jobs between your teeth to make room for the bands.

Plus, I had a total of 12 teeth removed in 3 batches for orthodonture etc.: the first two batches were a mixed bag of baby and permanent teeth before I had my braces, and then at 17, I had all 4 wisdom teeth out at once. These days they use those palate expander things most of the time instead of pulling out perfectly good teeth (except I think wisdom teeth are still usually pulled).

Eh, I'm getting used to how (and how much!) you talk - don't worry about it!

I really hope they get this over with for you soon, and that you are feeling better. no more cyborg implants...

and, oi, braces. I even had magnets with my braces. but no spider; thank the everloving lord almighty

thats awful! don't you hate the rubber dams? I hate those! and those awful things that hold your mouth open...one dislocated my jaw once. I dont like even thinkin about seeing a dentist but I got some work ahead of me :( but its ok. :) YAYS theres actually somebody who is getting used to it! even my best friend of 13 years is like 'girl you talk alot', but so does he lol...no wonder he and I get along..well besides the fact that we are always checking out men together and such... ^_^ there I go gettin all offtopicy, im offtopiculicious! I make up words too! Fantabsticulous...wich you are!

my friend had one, but not me. it was a device that fit the roof of your mouth, and every day you turned a little knob on it, which caused it to expand an little bit, an increase in diameter. I think she had trouble with her teeth trying to grow inwards instead of straight, and/or teeth that came in not on the gumline.

it was very bizarre but the whole idea seemed very painful/sore to me. I am glad I never/haven't yet had that, or headgear. just being able to pick up radio stations with my braces was enough for me ;)

Hmmm, that sounds like the palate expander thingie that the Young Lady had, except I don't think the adjustment was as often as every day - maybe every week.

The only thing that I found for "spider" in an orthdontic context was this grisly-sounding screw for anchoring things directly into the jawbone ... >shudder<
