You know, the Tokyopop site is a real work of art piece of work. It is nearly impossible to find the release dates page(s), which are now handled as a blog by an account named releasedates. (Also: no news about upcoming releases in any of the three series I checked.) And the Dark Horse site is not much better, despite having a much lower Pointlessly Grunge quotient. DelRey's isn't bad, although they have a major response time issue (perhaps because they are part of the much larger Random House site, which may need to consider a resource upgrade). So far, the best one today has been Viz - that is, if one defines "best" as: it was easy to find the Manga page, easy to find the list of series, and then easy to find the series in which I was interested.

In related news, Amazon's search engine has become unclear on the concept of Vol. vs. Volume. If you search on Manga Title Vol. 3, and the actual listing says Manga Title Volume 3, it craps out - and the same if the situation is vice versa (and both situations exist, which doesn't help). It did not used to be quite so easily confused.

I've given up on the publisher sites entirely, the updates/lack of are so frustrating. Tell me which series you're looking for and I'll check the book retailer distribution sites at work. I've noticed Viz and Tokyopop will usually have volumes available to order from the distributor a week or more before the "official" listed street date, anyway. I don't know that they care that bookstores plunk those down on shelves early (and save the effort of remembering them later).

FWIW, from this lot HnG 16 should be widely out; Black Lagoon 7 (9781421524566) is listed at the distributor and so should be on hand or available to order from your friendly neighborhood bookstore or online retailer; 20thCB 4 and onward are still on backorder.

None of them are listed at all yet at distributor 1, sorry. (WAIL RELOAD!) I don't see anything there for Minekura coming out the rest of this year; Kouga lists Gestalt from Viz through volume 4 on 12/15. I'll check distributor 2 in the morning. Tokyopop's releases and dates have me all confused anyway, with their various titles canceled/not-canceled-just-rescheduled/delayed-into-infinity. I cannot have Silver Diamond 5 or Momo Tama 4 until March 2010, WOE CRUEL WORLD! Still not one-fourth as maddening as Drama Queen, though.

It's much easier to find/track volumes if you can snag their ISBNs from somewhere, rather than by title. (Unless you cancel the book pre-release and then publish later under a different ISBN, which happens and drives me nuts.)

TP drivers me crackers too. That instant-direct to Amazon makes me grind my teeth. If I wanted Amazon info, I'd go to bloody Amazon!
