The Continuing Crisis
Ahh, it's morning ... I never could get the hang of "morning."
I forgot my badge/keycard for work, and had to go through the metal detector and stuff like a visitor.
The bead bracelet that ipperne gave me when the illness was diagnosed last fall has broken. Not too surprising: 6+ months of all-day everyday wear. I'll have to get some new cord for it this weekend at the bead store down the street. So now I'm carrying it in a little plastic parts bag in my pocket. My wrist feels naked.
And speaking of that ... the Washington Post Express (free newspaper handed out at the Metro) had a pic of 18-yr-old Daniel Radcliff ("Harry Potter") in his "Equus" theatrical role. Nude, shown from below the navel on up. I looked. And looked again. And again. > facepalm < OMG, I'm turning into a dirty old lady!!!

He's ... very decorative.
Yes, I think my attention to detail would be distracted as well!He starting to look rather like Cho Hakkai from Saiyuki. But he's much much too young for me! (He's only 2 years older than my daughter, and I had her in my early 30s ... .)(I mean, if my openly gay friend who's my age feels bad about ogling boys of this age, I guess it's not too repressed of me to feel the same ... .)
Well, let's see what smilla and I can work up about re-doing it. It will be fun, and these particular beads have significance for me because they've been with me through this whole thing. It's a kind offer, though.

Well, I hope you won't be too disappointed if I don't spend a huge amount of time there ... I'm having some trouble with plantar fasciitis in my left foot, so I need to limit the time walking/standing. But I certainly want to meet with you, take in the scene a bit, have a bite to eat. When were you thinking of going out there?
And sure, I'd love to look at some spacer beads, if you have spares!

Wait, I'm now confused - you're coming up to my neck of the woods? I thought was heading on downtown. We'd better connect by phone tomorrow morning or something (not before 10, probably ... ).
The pink disk-shaped bead is about 0.25 inch in diameter and 0.125 inch thick. The rectangular block bead (which acted as a button) is 0.75 inch long and about 0.375 inch square on the end.
The phone number I have for you that starts 571 - is that the cell?

Oh no, I certainly wouldn't expect you to be bringing much! I was thinking of some natural white (shell/bone colors) beads.
Yes, it was very fine cord - I was surprised at how sturdy it was. And yes, the whole thing was weirdly dainty yet punk-ish. It was a lot daintier than the typical rubber "cause" bracelet.

Yeah, I was thinking the same when I looked at the weather report.
I think I'll go wake up my hubby ... he was up 'til 4:00am playing Civ, which is really, really unusual - he's an early bird. And then I'll figure out exactly how I'm playing this. Don't call me ... I'll call you. ;-)

No, I haven't tried those. I have a newish pair of Naot sandals (they're sort of midway between sandals and shoes - heel cup, ankle strap, and toe cap, with an open shank) that seem fairly comfy with it, and I'll try wearing my Tevas today - they're men's Terra Fi - they're meant for walking, and I live in them suring the warm months, unless we're going out someplace dressy (I change them when I get to work). (Oh, and I don't pay that price for them - I use the Intarwebs to find strap color closeouts. Teva's been making them for several years, so I can usually find some at about half that price.)
