The Continuing Crisis
Ahh, it's morning ... I never could get the hang of "morning."
I forgot my badge/keycard for work, and had to go through the metal detector and stuff like a visitor.
The bead bracelet that ipperne gave me when the illness was diagnosed last fall has broken. Not too surprising: 6+ months of all-day everyday wear. I'll have to get some new cord for it this weekend at the bead store down the street. So now I'm carrying it in a little plastic parts bag in my pocket. My wrist feels naked.
And speaking of that ... the Washington Post Express (free newspaper handed out at the Metro) had a pic of 18-yr-old Daniel Radcliff ("Harry Potter") in his "Equus" theatrical role. Nude, shown from below the navel on up. I looked. And looked again. And again. > facepalm < OMG, I'm turning into a dirty old lady!!!

It's a very, very fine non-stretchy black cord - synthetic, at a guess, from the way the little fibers at the break look. Here's what it looks like - very thin, as you can see. Almost like a super-heavy thread.
I just wanted to fix it and get it back on my wrist ASAP - I wear it to remind me of all of you guys. So I thought running down to Beadazzled on Saturday would be the fastest (unless you want to meet for brunch somewhere!). I don't know that I will make it back the way it was - I can do some basic macrame stitches, and I might incorporate the two beads into something sturdier.

I was going to go with black-and-pink but maybe throw a little natural white in there for contrast. Yes, the holes are pretty little - I'd be inclined to try using a needle to thread them.
I could probably meet you somewhere for a bit of a visit - the Mr. is claiming he needs to work on taxes, which he usually does in isolation until he's ready to walk me through what he's worked out and get my signature. The question will be whether I can convince the Young Lady to stay behind and work on her term papers.
