keyboard test

Testing my tiny new bluetooth keyboard for my ipad mini.

It feels a little flimsy, and things are in odd places, but it beats the hell out of the soft keyboard, especially for typing a post in HTML.

I keep hitting the slash instead of the space bar, though.

The manufacturer is Anker.

comments

The Solution to the Firefox URL Bar Issue!

This is about the issue that was freaking me out last night, after I upgraded my browser. The http:// protocol prefix wasn't showing in URLs (it did show https:// though) in the location/address field.

So I found this last night just before I logged off, but I was feeling hyper and cruddy and didn't trust myself to deal with it. (Today I'm sick - just some cruddy little bug, I think, exacerbated by stress.)

The solution is from Nicole Cozma at CNET, here. I'm going to put a summary in this post, just in case they rearrange their site so I can't find it again when I need it. (These things happen.)

( Cut for a summary of the CNET instructions )

comments

Help! Who Here Knows Firefox Really Well??

I just upgraded to Firefox 10, and it seems to be allergic to URLs and stuff!

The location bar doesn't have the http:// prefix, so if I copy that to make links, they're borked. Plus, when I hover over a link on a page, I can't see the URL anywhere! (I'm used to having it show up at the bottom of the page.)

I'm looking for fixes, but I'm not finding them!

HELP! I want to know where links are before I go to them! I want to be able to copy and paste URLs without having to type in the protocol prefix manually!

ETA: OK, I found the URL hover ... it's floating off at right bottom. Still can't find the solution to the http:// in the location field.

comments

Behold the Awesome Power of the INTARWEBZ plus Democracy!

SOPA, PIPA lose support from lawmakers on Capitol Hill amid blackout

Co-sponsors who say they can no longer support their own legislation include Senators Marco Rubio, a Florida Republican, Roy Blunt, a Missouri Republican, and Ben Cardin, a Maryland Democrat ... .

- Washington Post

Ben Cardin is one of my Congress-critters, and I wrote to him this morning! Yay! (Yes, I know that chances are he hasn't yet got to my message, and may never, but still - feels good, you know?)

comments
