I'm thinking that a lot of the people who take the Gojyo/Sanzo feuding at face value may not have siblings, or may not have had that type of relationship with their siblings.
Another scene that I find significant is the one where Sanzo is lying in bed after Kami-sama beats the snot out of them, and then he wakes up and tries to leave, and Gojyo lets him go, and then puts him back to bed when he collapses. The moment where Gojyo is essentially praying after that: "Just ... please?" - is very powerful. On the one hand, it looks at though he doesn't care about Sanzo - he doesn't try to keep him safe. On the other hand, he's respecting his dignity enough to let him try until he can't anymore. And then he picks up the pieces pretty damn tenderly, especially considering how injured he is himself.
