I, too, am incapable of being objective about Murderbot. I have already read it TWICE: once all in a rush, then I went back and re-read all the novellas and read Network Effect again.
Mr Dr Science was talking about maybe the pacing isn't so good and I just blinked at him. For pacing to be bad I'd've had to feel my interest flagging, and that did NOT happen.
I think my reaction is partly because works in a series are like fanfic, in that you don't have to learn to care about a different set of characters. And like most people (in the world!) my emotional bandwidth is under a lot of stress these days.
