Mm, this looks good. Northern Europeans have such nice apple cakes. There was one version that I kept coming across in Germany which was like an apple upside-down cake with a custard topping. This one, is it particularly eggy? Both the original and your version mention its moistness, but does that mean it's more like a sort of apple quiche than a cake, or does the crumb resemble a dense cake instead?
