Man-o-manischewitz, we've been having some mongo windstorms lately! Power's out at home, so I've been hanging out at the office. But I think I need to go now.
We had horrible winds today too. It's becoming my least favorite kind of weather. It's so deceptive. You look out the window, and it seems like a pretty day with bright blue skies. Then you go outside and you can hardly breathe, and you're crying from the dust in your eyes. And it always reminds me of the Virginia Tech shooting. The winds were so bad that day that the Lifeflight helicopters couldn't take off, and so some of the shooting victims didn't make it to the trauma center in time.
It's bad when you're better off staying at work on a Friday. I hope you get your power back soon.
We experienced a heavy downpour midday just as I went out rather than the high winds you had. Fortunately, the rain had died down by the time I got to the grocery store; it would have been pretty miserable to haul all those groceries in while it was pouring.
We're having such winds, too, but it's great because the temperature is finally hovering near zero-C, instead of being -15 to -300ºC like it's been for most of the month.
